Summary

Tatum Robotics is a Boston-based startup developing a first-of-its-kind assistive communication tool for DeafBlind people. For this project, I, along with a team of engineers were tasked with developing a wearable product and doorbell system to accompany their 3D printed Hand that would serve as a notification device to let DeafBlind users know whether or not it is safe to open their front doors.

Details

After a successful semester leading a spectacular team of engineers in Generate (Northeastern University's Product Development Studio), having already set up the foundation for the project, I reached out to the Founder of Tatum Robotics to see if one other electrical engineer and I could continue developing the products. We were both super passionate and motivated to get something that not only looked good, but was functional and useful for the DeafBlind community.

Tatum Robotics was happy to collaborate!

After working over several months, we were able to redesign both products entirely with new custom printed circuit boards (PCBs), refined designs, and more! The project is still on-going and we are in the process of investigating novelty to potentially submit a patent!
